Skrystrup (Now Caveman Audio) "Danish Dumble" custom-made 50-watt head.
The Skrydstrup Overdrive 50 is a super-rare, hand‑built Danish amp from legendary amplifier designer Steen Skrydstrup. It is nicknamed the “Danish Dumble” for its inspirational connection to the legendary Dumble Overdrive Special vibe. This is a 50 W all‑tube head offers a two‑channel design (technically one channel with switchable overdrive) and is dynamic, musical and extremely responsive to play. This is a highly versatile amp that can deliver everything from warm cleans to singing overdrive and creamy lead tones. It would be ideal for a range of musical styles including blues, fusion, classic rock and more. Via the (immensely robust) foot switch, it offers channel switching (clean/overdrive) and a switchable boost function, and a mid boost.
The panel has input volume (with two bright options and a deep switch), a classic treble, mid, bass tonestack followed by adjustable overdrive and overdrive level (effectively a volume for the drive channel). This is followed by an excellent master volume to tame the volume and presence to add sparkle.
This head is in superb condition and has just been checked and serviced. These were custom-built amps (this one was custom built for somebody called Gillan in 2003) and I can confirm that it is phenomenally well-built and, rightly, highly regarded by players who have been lucky enough to spend time with it.
Made in Denmark is rare to see on an amplifier but this is a true player’s amp that is full of character, power and beautiful, harmonic overdrive.
Inspection, shipping and collection
This can be inspected and played through a variety of cabs here in Southampton (or bring your own!) and I am happy to reserve for serious buyers to avoid wasting a trip. Alternatively, I am happy to do a video call to go over this amp and test it out with a choice of cabs or guitar types.
Collection in person is always available and I can deliver in person to much of southern England. I can also ship this amp in its custom flight case by ParcelForce 48.
