Gibson Custom Shop ES-335 in Cherry Red, made in Memphis 2008

This is a gorgeous Memphis Custom Shop ES-335 in Cherry Red. The guitar is in great condition, complete with Certificate of Authenticity and the original hard case. The guitar appears to be all original condition with no significant cosmetic damage, just some light surface scratching to the finish.

These Memphis custom shop guitars are generally beautifully made guitars that play exceptionally well and this one is no exception. It has a long neck tenon, slim 60’s style mahogany neck with parallelogram markers, Grover tuners and Burstbucker pickups.

The neck on this example is straight and true and the rosewood fretboard shows negligible wear to the frets. The truss rod works as expected in both directions and the guitar has a good setup at present with a little neck relief to match the light guage strings (probably 10s or 11s from the feel) giving the guitar a comfortable low action with no buzzing or choking.

All the hardware - tuners, pickup covers etc. - are also in excellent condition with very little wear and everything works as it should. The guitar no scratchy pots or issues and the Burstbucker 1 & 2 pickups give this a classic Gibson tone.

This example weighs 3.84kg (8.4lb) and comes in its original custom shop case which is also in excellent condition with just a few nicks to the covering, the most obvious one on the top.

Overall this is a really nice example of a custom shop 335. Good weight, lovely neck and pickups and in fantastic shape for a 17-year-old guitar.
