This is an exceptional Custom Shop ‘59 Les Paul made in 2021 in VOS Iced Tea finish. The figured maple top on this example is particularly beautiful, having been specially selected at the factory (hand selected) and the guitar also has a factory special order high gloss finish that really shows off the wood. The binding shows signs of some ‘analine bleed’ from the finish into the varnish which is entirely typical (even expected) on these guitars, and will fade with time as the finish ages naturally.
The condition of this guitar is outstanding. There are no significant scratches, dents or dings and the back has no evidence of the usual ‘belt rash’, just very light swirls to show that it has been played. The only mark of any note I can find is a tiny chip to the finish on the corner of the headstock (illustrated in one of the photos).
This guitar will come in its original hard shell case - also in excellent condition - and complete with all of the hang tags and paperwork that you see. That includes the COA, ‘Gold Warranty’ and the Pre-Pack Checklist card (showing the completion date 30th April 2021) plus everything else shown.
The Amporium took this guitar as part exchange from a customer who had previously had Seymour Duncan “Phat Staple” pickups installed which required the neck pickup cavity to be slightly deepened. This was done professionally to a high standard but fortunately the owner also kept the original Custombucker pickups, pots and ‘historic’ wiring which are now reinstalled in the guitar, as you can see.
This is a rare opportunity to pick up Gibson’s flagship LP at less than the £5k plus asking price. This example weighs a very pleasant 8lbs 7oz (3.8kg) an benefits from a hand selected top and gloss finish and, needless to say, both looks and sounds fantastic.
