Fender Custom Shop '57 Twin Hand-wired Reissue 2012

£1,650.00

Classic and beautiful Handwired Tweed reissue of the famous 1957 Twin. This example was made in 2017 and is in excellent cosmetic and functional condition.

We don’t often rave about modern amps or reissues but this is simply stunning. Made in by the Fender amp custom shop with real pride, it is completely handwired and uses all Mercury Magnetics transformers. The chassis is a chrome-plated work of art!

The case is also as good as they get. All pine construction with a period lacquered tweed cover. Mains lead is hardwired and this is a UK-Spec 240v version.

No bells and whistles with these tweed amps - just two channels and some tonal adjustment. One channel is brighter than the other, but both enable that classic tweed sound that these amps are renowned for. As you would expect from a 40 watt tweed twin the sound is big and fat with a very dynamic response and strong mids. It begins to break up nicely and very progressively around 6 although you might want an attenuator to maximise that tweed overdrive sound at home or in the studio! The channels can also be jumpered for additional tonal options and one of the two valve rectifiers can be removed to induce more ‘sag’ if you prefer that.

This is In very good condition, with just a few minor marks on the tweed as shown and a mark on the original leather handle. The cover and original manual shown are also included.

We’ve gone over this amp and checked all the usual service items, and replaced the rectifiers with a matched pair. It will come with a report from our amp tech (JB Amp Repairs of Poole). This is a fantastic reissue with very little cosmetic wear and in perfect working order, just as you would expect from a top quality custom shop amp that’s less than a decade old.
