Dummy Vox Voltage Selector Knob (non-functional, cap only)
Dummy JMI-style Vox Voltage Selector Knob (cap only)
Formerly sold by North Coast Music.
The ‘dome’ rotary voltage selector switch was common on JMI Vox amps from the 1960s. Unfortunately, these voltage selector switches have not withstood the test of time. Many of them have broken or are now missing entirely. They were also sometimes removed to comply with local safety regulations. Voltage selector switches have also been made illegal in many countries since the 1960s, so a working reproduction of the switch assembly is not likely to ever become available.
North Coast Music (now closed) offered an effective solution to this problem: have your tech "hard wire" your amp to the desired AC voltage for your country (if this has not already been done) and replace it with one of these reproduction voltage selector knobs. This will require the fabrication of a small piece of aluminum or plastic for the underside of the chassis to support and fasten the voltage selector knob in place. Although the knob will be non functional, your amp will retain its stock appearance and the ugly hole will be neatly and safely covered. The Vintage Amporum purchased most of the remaining Vox spares from North Coast Music when it closed in 2024 and is pleased to offer these items once again for the restoration of vintage Vox equipment.
~1" diameter and ~5/16" tall, access hole for this knob on a JMI chassis is ~1 1/8"
