2024 Gretsch G6122T-62 Vintage Select Edition '62 Chet Atkins Country Gentleman with Bigsby NOS
This is the beautifully-made Gretsch ‘62 Chet Atkins Country Gentleman in ‘new old stock’ condition, complete with its original case and all the paperwork. Made in only 2024, this guitar carries no appreciable wear or, in fact, any real indication that it has been played (before I tuned it to check that it all worked!).
Full specification and the current list price can be found on the Gretsch website: https://www.gretschguitars.com/gear/build/hollow-body/g6122t-62-vintage-select-edition-62-chet-atkins-country-gentleman-hollow-body-with-bigsby/2401235892
This version of the ‘Chet Atkins’ Country Gent is Gretch’s top of the line collectors edition built in the legendary Terrada factory. This is a fantastic recreation of the instrument that George Harrison and many others played in the early 1960s. It has the classic 17” wide maple double cutaway hollow body with simulated F-holes (painted on) and padded back cover (which hides access to the internals). Neck is U-shaped, 2-piece with 24 1/2" scale length, bound ebony fingerboard, thumbprint position markers, 22 vintage frets, and a zero-fret.
The pickups are upgraded TV Jones Gretsch Filter'Tron humbuckers and the Walnut Stain finish is complemented by gold-plated hardware, Grover ‘Imperial Stairstep’ tuners and a ‘Gretsch’ branded Bigsby vibrato tailpiece.
Premium features on this model include:
TV Jones Pickups: This version sports upgraded TV Jones Classic humbuckers which produce an authentic Beatles/Chet Atkins chime;
Vintage Select Electronics: Authentic period-correct specs, including "Squeezebox" paper-in-oil capacitors and standby switch;
Dual Mute: Dual mechanical string mutes with red felt surrounds;
Superior appointments: such as Classic G-arrow control knobs, Grover Imperial tuners, pinned rocking bar bridge and bone nut.
The plastic protection is still on the pickguard of this instrument, as are the factory strings which appear unused. All the paperwork is present, including the floor-follower (which indicates a January 2024 date) and the Gretsch guarantee certificate showing the correct serial number etc. The original case is in similarly excellent condition with no obvious damage. The key and truss rod wrench are also in the case.
Serious buyers only. You are welcome to visit to try the guitar, or I am happy to do a video call to demonstrate and go through any details etc. that you can’t see here. These retail new for around £3200 and I would keep it but if I didn’t already have one (which I love btw) so save yourself £700 on list price.
