2008 Martin J-40 sunburst - excellent used condition

Sale Price: £2,350.00 Original Price: £2,450.00

2008 C.F Martin J-40 acoustic guitar, made in USA

The Martin J-40 is a well-established part of Martin’s acoustic lineup and this is a beautiful sounding example from 2008. The J-40 has a Jumbo body size that combines the classic larger, tight-waisted shape with powerful projection and boasts deep bass and rich overtones for a dynamic and rich tone.

The guitar is built with a spruce top with lovely antique sunburst finish and indian rosewood back and sides. It has a hand-fitted dovetail neck of mahogany with a bound ebony fretboard inlaid with abalone hex position markers. Other details include abalone rosette and an ebony bridge with bone pins, and gold Martin tuners.

This is a gorgeous example in very good, used condition. There are some signs of use including light surface pick wear to the treble side, two small buckle marks to the rear, a few minor dings and surface swirls but overall it is in very good condition with no major dings or dents. The neck is straight and the guitar plays extremely well: to me, it feels extremely well balanced and comfortable to play and has an easy action with no buzzing or choking. It sounds exactly as you wold hope: rich, warm and articulate.

The guitar will come with the original hard case and the two hang tags shown.

Further specifications:

  • Nut width: 1.7” / 43.2mm

  • String spacing at the nut (E-E centres): 1.5” / 37.4mm

  • Frets: 20

  • Scale Length: 25.4"

  • Neck Shape, Modified Low Oval with High Performance Taper

  • Bridge: Ebony Modern Belly - Drop In Saddle.
