1997 Epiphone Casino in Vintage Cherryburst with added Bigsby B7, Lollar Pickups, custom pickguard and vintage-style wiring harness. This is a really nice example of mid-late ‘90s Casino built in the legendary Peerless factory in February 1997 in Busan, South Korea.
Description
This Casino has a laminated-maple body with set mahogany neck, bound rosewood fingerboard with pearloid parallelogram inlays, 22 medium jumbo frets, 24¾-inch scale and 12-inch radius slim/medium C neck with a narrow 1 9/16-inch nut. The neck joins the body at the 17th fret and this one weighs in at a shoulder-friendly 6.9lbs / 3.2kg even with the added Bigsby B7.
This example has been modified to match the appearance and fitments of George Harrison’s original Casino, so it has upgraded Lollar dog-ear P-90 pickups, vintage-style harness (using Gibson Historic pots) and a genuine Bigsby B7 vibrato as well as a custom-made pickguard. The original Epiphone dog-ear P-90s, wiring/control harness and trapeze tailpiece are retained and accompany the instrument.
Condition
The guitar will come complete with period-correct Epiphone-logo fitted hard case, original wiring harness (and pickups) and the 'Lollar’ goodies that came with the upgraded pickups. Vintage Cherryburst finish remains in very good cosmetic condition with normal age-related surface wear and minor marks to the headstock and some very minor buckle rash to the rear.
This is a beautiful recreation of George’s guitar as it was around 1965/66 and as used on the 1966 world tours including their final (except for the rooftop) live concert in Candlestick Park, San Francisco. It is based on a Peerless-built Casino which are renowned as extremely well-constructed and finished in contrast to many of the later Korean and Chinese-built examples. The Bigsby and Lollar upgrades alone would cost around £500-600.
