Vox JMI AC30x ('expanded frequency') - choice of two
Choice of two ultra-rare AC30x amps.
If the AC30 isn’t big or loud enough for you, these AC30x amps could be you. These were an ‘expanded frequency’ (which means 2×15”) version of the legendary AC30 amp. Although big, these have castors to make them easy to move around and they are some of the sweetest sounding AC30s I have ever heard.
Sadly, once the hayday of the AC30 passed, very few of these survived and the vast majority were broken up and their chassis’ re-housed. Both of these cases are restored from surviving 1960s ones and have needed at least one replacement back panel, but each has a contemporary ‘integrated TB’ chassis.
The grey-panel example is fitted with modern Celestion ‘Loudback’ speakers and it lives up to that billing. The copper-top chassis is paired with vintage G15 Greenbacks and is another sweet sounding amp.
Both are restored, PAR tested and fully working examples, awaiting photography and full listing.
