Authentic vintage vibes for modern musicians
The Amporium’s mission is to restore and offer vintage guitar amplifiers for guitar players to use and enjoy. As well as restored and serviced amplifiers, you will also find a unique range of parts - mostly for Vox amps - to help you service and restore your own equipment. We also sell some carefully selected guitars from time to time.
Whether you’re a guitar owner who dreams of pairing classic amps with your vintage guitars, a gigging musician seeking a classic backline or working in the studio, owning a vintage amp can be an investment that lasts you a lifetime.
Featured Amp: 1963 Vox AC30/6
We have been focused on AC30s at the moment, so currently have six available including two rare ‘Expanded Frequency’ examples (which will be listed soon). The AC30 is a true legend. Its early evolution in the late 50s and early 60s was closely linked with the Shadows, Beatles, Rolling Stones and others. Having powered the ‘British Invasion’ it was the weapon of choice for artists such as Rory Galagher and Brian May and features on countless recordings. It is still in production in various forms today.
This extremely original non ’top boost’ JMI-era AC30/6 was probably completed in late 1963 and sports its original basketweave black vinyl, brown grill cloth, brass vents, an immaculate pair of ‘63 Alnico Blue speakers and the iconic ‘egg’ foot switch.
Sympathetically but thoroughly restored and currently equipped with vintage Mullard valves, both the Normal and Brilliant channels are at their glorious chimey best and the famous modulated Vibrato channel is just the icing on the cake. Check out more details in the shop!
